In the second part of our advanced head turning tutorial series, we rig up a mouth capable of movements via a Smart Bone. Like the eyes in part 1, this will allow us to create a more polished head turn in our third part.

I KNOW! Over an HOUR for a tutorial? I must be smoking something right? Well, this is actually trimmed down! I could have made the artwork and just made a basic turn but I wanted to go into detail on how I created a body turn from the very start. I personally think it is important to show the whole process because for one, it can give you a sense of how much time it might take and two, it's easier to share little tips and tricks I've learned while using this program. So many times I watch tutorials that are so good but leave out little tid bits or leave out problems they encounter which, if shared would have saved me tons of time.

In our final Anime Studio lesson on shading, we take a look at how to bind our shaded layers to the character. This will require traditional methods as well as the use of Smart Bones.

This is the first of three video tutorials to show you how I rig eyes and animate them in anime studio. I made this tutorial last year but it didn't have audio commentary so I thought I'd redo it! I apologize if I was using short cuts to fast but I think that if you learn to use the shortcut keys you'll learn to love them and increase your production speed and you'll wonder how you ever lived without them!

This tutorial might be a little confusing because I ramble and I don't edit my videos much so bare with me because this one can REALLY, REALLY help you speed up you animation workflow! Actions have been a part of MOHO/Anime Studio for a long time but I'm kinda slow so I didn't really recognize the power they have and how helpful they will be to anyone learning how to use these programs.
Actions are small (but can be very long and complex) animations that you can save and reuse throughout your animations. They can be tricky to learn but once you do, you'll use them all the time!
Hopefully, I explained it well enough but I'm just getting use to using them as well but if you have questions, just ask in a comment down below. You can also check for other tutorials on youtube that explain actions or go to the MOHO Pro 12 facebook page or SmithMicro official forum if I can't help! In any case, it's something worth knowing!

Correction: "I keep calling the mouth one shape, but really it's one object... they are separate shapes connected or joined shapes. The mouth object sits on only one layer." jg
A quick explanation of how I set up a character in Anime
Studio Pro 7 and animate them using point level animation. A great way to add stretch and squash to your characters.
If you find this explanation helpful then please comment so that I know to make more. I could also make some more detailed tutorials.
Thank you for watching.=)

In part 3 on our series for shading, we add some highlights to the character's face to give the piece more volume. This includes adding highlights to the character's eyes as well. We do this with Anime Studio's Draw Shape and Add Point Tools.

Now that we have the face shaded, we can bring our focus to the character's torso. Continuing on with using the Add Point, Create Shape and Curvature tools in Anime Studio, we will create and shadows and shading for the character's body.

While you can have Anime Studio automate the shading process, it's usually best to manually apply the effect so you can have greater control over it. This tutorial shows you how to create some basic cartoon shading effects using the Add Point and Create Shape Tools. This is part 1 of a mini series on shading and shadows.
